Conventional Fire Alarm System

A Conventional Fire Alarm System is a widely used fire detection and warning system designed to detect early signs of fire and alert occupants for safe evacuation. Unlike addressable systems, conventional fire alarms divide a building into zones and provide zone-based alerts when a fire or smoke is detected.

These systems are ideal for small to medium-sized buildings such as schools, offices, warehouses, and residential complexes where precise pinpointing of the detector location is not required.

Key features

01Zonal Detection
Each floor or section of a building is wired as a zone, and any alert shows the zone name or number (not individual devices).
02Manual Call Points (MCPs)
Allow occupants to manually raise an alarm by pressing a button in case of fire.
03Smoke, Heat & Flame Detectors
Connected in each zone to detect fire indicators based on environment type.
04Audible & Visual Alarms
Includes sounders, sirens, and strobe lights for occupant alerts.
05Control Panel with Zone LEDs
Indicates which zone has triggered the alarm for quick identification.
06Battery Backup
Ensures continued operation during a power failure via internal batteries.
07Interlinking with Other Systems
Can trigger elevator control, fire doors, exhaust fans, or sprinkler systems.

Why it's worth it

  • Cost-Effective

Affordable solution for small buildings with limited detection zones.

  • Simple Setup and Maintenance

Easy to install and service with less technical complexity than addressable systems.

  • Reliable Operation

Proven and widely used technology in schools, clinics, and housing blocks.

  • Fast Fire Detection

Offers immediate audible warnings when any detector or MCP is triggered.

  • Customizable Zoning

Zones can be configured based on fire risk areas, building layout, or regulations.

  • Stand-Alone Functionality

Operates independently, not dependent on servers or networks.

  • Expandable

Zones and devices can be added based on the building’s future expansion needs.

Where it works best & how we install it

Placement guidance we follow on site.

Offices, Schools, and Small Commercial Buildings

Zonal Planning

  • Divide the building by floors, wings, or departments.
  • Example: Ground Floor = Zone 1, First Floor = Zone 2, and so on.

Control Panel

  • Install in a secure, visible area like the reception, security room, or near the main entrance.
  • Should be easily accessible by fire wardens and emergency responders.

Detectors

  • Smoke detectors in corridors, offices, stairwells, and electrical rooms.
  • Heat detectors in kitchens, server rooms, or dusty areas.

Manual Call Points

  • Install at all exits, staircases, and lift lobbies, typically 1.4 meters above the ground.

Sounders and Strobes

  • Place in hallways, classrooms, and common areas to ensure alarms are audible and visible in all zones.

Residential and Apartment Complexes

Lobby or Basement Panel Setup

  • Mount the control panel in the security cabin or building manager’s room.

Zonal Detectors

  • Zone per block or floor; install detectors in common hallways, basements, and lift areas.

Alarm Devices

  • Use sounders and flashers to notify residents and trigger emergency lights if needed.

Warehouse or Factory Setup

Zone Definition

  • Divide into production area, storage area, and admin offices.

Detector Selection

  • Use heat detectors in high-dust or high-temperature areas.
  • Use beam-type smoke detectors for large open areas.

Control Panel Access

  • Should be placed at the main entrance or fire control room for quick emergency access.
